Victory for the web

Standards” means “standards”. Thank you for listening.

I acually shed a small tear of joy on reading this news. I can’t help but wonder if there’s any significance to the timing of this change of heart, being the first business day after Netscape’s end of life.

I suppose I can stop shaking my head in disbelief now. That was a scary and depressing ride.

I am stunned, amazed, and extremely happy. Suddenly I’m honestly curious to test IE8 and see what’s been improved (fingers crossed).

Could you do another analysis along the lines of ‘X-UA-No Thanks’ that assumes the new default behavior?

Marty, there is no mystery involved. In fact, I can think of about 899 million reasons + 1 for their change of heart. The +1 being the announcement of a possible new investigation into this very area of Microsoft’s business practices. Essentially the same forces that got the CIFS documentation opened up to FOSS projects is responsible to this event, as well.

My sincerest thanks goes out to the European Union. :-)
