Just in case anyone was wondering, I did get around to setting this up, and it did work pretty well. The only catch was in setting up the yadis.xrdf file; lighttpd, from what I can tell in its docs, doesn’t allow rewriting or conditional redirecting based on the HTTP Accept header, so I had to move up a level and do that in Django (which was easy enough). See here for verification :)
